Janna's Journey

When your good friends Tony and Shannon invite you to come stay the weekend with them up in a beautiful cabin, you drop everything and go! Tony is a hunting and fishing guide for a living. When you hear the quote, find something you love to do and you will never work a day in your life, I think of Tony. He has quite the job, he literally gets paid to do something he loves! Now I am sure he’s just like the rest of us, there are probably days he wished he didn’t have to work, but if you know him at all I am sure those are very few and far between.  For the next couple of months he has guided hunts up in Mount Pleasant and stays in this beautiful Cabin, Cabin is more of an understatement, I would say it’s more of a Lodge, up on it’s very own private mountain, he had a little break in between clients and invited us to come and relax and enjoy the peace and quiet with him and his family.

As hard as I tried I just couldn’t capture how beautiful this place really was. The first night we took a ride up on the Side by Side, Tony had to do some “work”, he has trail cameras up all over so he could scout the Elk activity before his client came up so we all took a drive along with him while he did his thing. We went up 10,000 feet to the top of the mountain! It was breathtaking up there, It always blows my mind that these places exist right here in Utah, I have never been to or ever even heard of Mount Pleasant before.

What a great place to Unwind and unplug. My phone had no service almost the whole time, It really helped show me just how much we all rely on our devices. I literally reached for my phone more times than I can count, to look up something on google, check my emails, or just to see what the world was up to on Facebook or Instagram. It was a nice change of pace to actually just sit and relax and enjoy the beauty around me. Shannon and I spent a lot of time just chatting it up in the kitchen while the boys watched a few football games and napped.  Doug works a lot, he wakes up super early most days, and we have a very bad habit of staying up too late, so he was getting a little burned out these past couple of weeks,  So this weekend couldn’t have come at a better time, it was much-needed for him. He was  able to sit and do nothing for a few days, watch TV, read a book and catch up on his sleep.

The leaves are starting to change, You could seriously look out the window or sit out on the balcony and look at it for hours. We even spotted deer, squirrels, wild turkeys and cows while we were there, and I  never got tired of looking at those colorful trees! We ate good, chilled, took a hike, I even got to drive the Side by Side, a first for me and yep I loved it!! What a fun weekend.

It’s always a good time with Shannon and Tony. It’s always so fun to hang with people who you feel you have so much in common with. The more Shannon and I talk, it’s actually kind of crazy how much we are the same! It’s hard to find married couples that both husbands and wives all get along with each other so well, so we feel lucky to have found these two to hang with. And NO, it has nothing to do with the fact that they have access to fancy cabins… LOL but it’s a nice perk! ;p Thanks guys for sharing your cool life with us!  It’s Always a good time!
