Updated Stair Railing ( balls still intact)

So here’s my Stair railing before. Notice the ball finials, they are all scratched up and ugly. I thought, I should just cut those off to give it a more modern, updated look. When I brought that up to Doug and the boys you would have thought I was asking them if I could cut off their balls. They said there will be no ball cutting in this house LOL. They then went on to say they would probably fall down the stairs if those balls weren’t there, and where am I going to hang their coats and things I want taken downstairs? While I can’t even comprehend the first one, I kind of get the point on the last one, I use those things as a coat rack more than I probably should. So here’s my stair rail with a nice fresh coat of paint and… balls still intact!
