About 5 or 6 months ago my good friend Tami approached me about getting a group of us girls that grew up in California together and head Down to Mission Bay for a few days and catch up on each others lives. Tami and I have probably known each other since we were in 2nd grade, maybe even earlier( we can’t seem to pinpoint exactly how or when we met) but we were really good friends, mostly in elementary school and Jr. High. We kind of lost touch with each other somewhere along the way in High School, but we found each other again later on in Utah. There are just some people in your life that you will always be friends with, no matter how much time has passed, or whatever life has thrown at us, we just pick right back up where we left off, it is just easy.
We had about 5 of us that originally were going to go, but as the time got closer, it ended up that only Tami and Becky and I could make the trip. Becky is living in Pennsylvania right now so she had to fly in and Tami and I decided to made a road trip of it!
I am not going to lie, I was just a little bit nervous, what if we had nothing to talk about? I mean we really haven’t spent much time with each other over the last 30 years or so, maybe a lunch or two here and there but not a 10 hour road trip! LOL Well Not sure why I was worried, I am pretty sure we talked 10 hours straight non-stop!! We had so much fun reminiscing about the old days! I think at one point I was laughing so hard I couldn’t even breath!
Once we picked up Becky the Girls trip was officially on! We ate too much, stayed up too late, we laughed, we cried, we solved all of life’s problems. If you haven’t noticed, I go on a lot of girls trips, I find them to be very therapeutic, and having a house full of boys, means I need girl time a lot more often than some. But If you have never been on one, I strongly encourage you to do so. There is just nothing better.
The first two days were cold and rainy, all we wanted to do was sit at the beach and soak in the sun… of course we were able to fill in that time with some shopping and more eating… then as luck would have it the last two days the sun came out just enough for us to lay out, and enjoy! We were so happy! I’m not saying it was Hot, but we were definitely warmer then back home!!
We even woke up one morning super early after going to bed around 1am to watch the sunrise… I am not a morning person so this was big for me.
And we caught the sunset one night too…wasn’t the best sunset, but we planned on watching it almost every night and then we would be in the middle of something and totally forget, but we did manage to remember on our last night.
This might not be funny to anyone else but us, but we decided to take some pictures with the cutouts that they had all over Belmont Park, I told Becky how jealous I was that she got to have a mustache and she said, wait, I don’t remember If I put my mouth under the mustache or not, so we decided to pull up the picture we just took and zoomed in and didn’t even see Becky’s face in it at all then we scrolled over and saw Becky had stuck her head over by the guys Armpit and we about died laughing! We literally were all standing there laughing while crossing our legs because we were on the verge of peeing our pants! Maybe you had to be there… but man it was funny!!!
What a fun time we had! I seriously have never laughed as hard! I was kind of bummed it was coming to an end. Tami and I decided to surprise Becky on the way home and make reservations in Vegas at Dicks Last Stop Resort. I have heard about it before but never been. If you have never been it is a place where the waiters and staff are all rude to you and you are supposed to be rude back. I have always wanted to check it out, so we did… I will say it made us laugh, but we are not good at dishing it back, that’s for sure! They were a little on the raunchy side and our food wasn’t the best, I probably don’t need to ever do that again, but we had fun! LOL
I am so thankful for these two girls and their friendships. And after this past week, I feel that much closer to them. We are already talking about doing it again next year! Girls trips make me a better, wife, mother and person! There really isn’t anything better!!
