Denver & Fort Collins, Colorado

Every year Doug has to get his CME’s for work, he can get a lot of them by attending the AAPA conference every May, so I usually tag along and we try to make a fun trip out of it. It is usually someplace we’ve never been to and places we wouldn’t normal go to. When we found out it was in Denver this year we weren’t super excited about it. Denver isn’t that far away from us and we’ve been there before so it wasn’t anything new to us, we decided to drive there so we could visit family while we were there. We have a sister (in law) who lives in Denver and a Niece who lives in Fort Collins.

We basically drove through all kinds of weather in one day, it was wild, we even drove through snow! Even though it was beautiful, the drive there gave me high anxiety, soo many semi trucks were driving with us that day! Anyone else hate driving among those things? When we arrived at our hotel room, we found out that parking was $60 a day?!? What the? maybe we should of flown? LOL

We had a nice visit with Sharlee, she is Doug’s oldest sibling and only sister, she’s a blast to be with and I am glad we were able to fit in time to see her, it’s never a dull moment with her!

We love to go to baseball games whenever we are away, we ended up getting the AAPA game tickets which ended up being in a suite! We didnt even realize we got suite tickets when we bought them, so that was a fun surprise. They had food and drinks and awesome seats!

They usually have a PA’s night out during these conferences, they are usually really, really fun, this one was kind of disappointing, it was fun to go to the different bars and check them all out and see the live music ( one of my most favorite things to do). But after going to Nashville nothing can compare to that party! We had paid extra for VIP access which in the past was well worth it, this time, not so much, we had to stand up to eat and it was super crowded everywhere we went and the party favor was a beanie! lol

I was pretty bad at remembering to take pictures this trip for some reason.

Most of the rest of the time we were in Denver we spent finding yummy places to eat and finding lottery and scratch off tickets, LOL! Utah doesn’t have the lottery so i become a little obsessed sometimes. We found a 7-11 down the street from our hotel that we had some really good luck with so we decided we would just keep on buying tickets with our winnings until we either lost or won big!

we literally kept on winning! So we would walk back to that same store multiple times a day. I usually play the small scratch off’s but we read an article that the bigger ones are bigger winners and to play from the same roll so we stuck with that theory. On our last day we bought more tickets with our winnings and took them with us to Fort Collins, we decided it would be fun to scratch them off with Abbey ( our niece). We decided to book a room for the night and spend the day/evening with her. We stayed at the cutest hotel in Fort Collins, it was called The Armstrong Hotel, I loved the vibe there, in fact i loved the whole vibe of the whole town and wished we had stayed there all week!

Abbey showed us around, we took pics at all the fun murals, ate, shopped at the cutest little shops and of course scratched off our final scratchers, and we won $500!! That was so much fun! So Abbey and I spend most of the time trying to find a place that would cash it out, apparently nobody wants you to cash out that much money, so we spend way too much time going from gas stations to grocery stores trying to get this ticket cashed with no luck, but we had a really good time trying! Fort Collins is a cute little college town that I would for sure go back to, I loved it, could of been the company too, Abbey is such a fun person to hang with!

On our way out of town we finally found a grocery store that cashed out our winnings. we decided to buy $150 more tickets and a lotto ticket for the next drawing. We didnt win anything on the scratchers and only won $17 on the lotto ticket! Oh well, we had fun and it kept us entertained all week and came out ahead with a couple hundred bucks in our pockets!
